About the project
Energy Literacy (E-lit) for Adults – An Innovative Approach to Reducing Energy Poverty” is a two-year project that brings together experts from academic, non-formal education, and business backgrounds across five European countries. The recognition of energy poverty’s significant impact on adult citizens has prompted organizations to unite, pooling their cross-sectoral knowledge and expertise to address energy poverty, a multidimensional phenomenon of increased importance and concern in Europe.
According to Eurostat
• 9.3% of the population, which is equivalent to over 41 million people in the EU, were unable to keep their home adequately warm in 2022.
• Nearly 7% of the EU population faced arrears on their utility bills.
• 15% of the population lived in dwellings with leak, dampness, or rot in 2020 (the most recent year for available data).
Thus, the E-lit Adults Project emphasizes advancing energy literacy in an innovative way.
